This tastefully renovated stone cottage in the village of Benoisey in the Cote D’Or, Burgundy, with magnificent views, has been sympathetically restored and retains its French character, whilst containing all modcons.
The kitchen/diner with its original flagstone floor and woodburner is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and coffee maker. There is a separate utility room with WC and washing machine.
There is plenty of room for casual dining by the wood burner. There are maps and information about places of interest to visit as well as lots of indoor games.
The sitting room has a magnificent table seating up to 10 peopl
e as well as a second woodburner, TV with French and English channels, a DVD and a leather sofa bed. A selection of DVDs include “Chocolat” which was filmed in the village of Flavigny, which is not far from Benoisey.
Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms, both with double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. The 2nd bedroom with its fantastic exposed beams, also has a double futon, and there is a travel cot available if required. The upstairs bathroom has bath (with overhead shower), basin and toilet. There are 2 vaulted cellars and a large patio/ seating area with a barbecue and plenty of garden furniture. In addition, there are many games available, including boule. The garden includes flower borders, shrubs and fruit trees and borders onto farmland.
Children have loved staying here but there are 16 steps down from the house to the patio so young children do need supervision. Also, being on the side of the valley, the land slopes away from the patio and young children would need to be supervised here as well. The table tennis table, dart board and various games have proved popular. The barbecue is used on a regular basis as are the sunbeds and garden dining furniture! .
